Eric joined the WLBT News Team in August 1990. He always strives for the highest quality product. Because of his readiness to capture breaking news stories at all times, he obtained exclusive video of a courtroom brawl involving Mississippi's Attorney General Mike Moore. "Big E" along with veteran News Anchor/Reporter Bert Case gained the confession of Kenneth Tornes during an exclusive interview at the Hinds County jail. Tornes was responsible for the death of three firemen at a Jackson Fire Station.
Although Eric's main responsibilities are shooting and editing videotape stories for all newscasts, he also substitutes as a Studio Camera Operator, Teleprompter Operator, and Sports Photographer.
In addition, Eric has shot footage and various features that have been acquired by NBC News and ESPN for national broadcast, including a feature on Mississippi Caning that aired on NBC Nightly News.
Eric is originally from Gloster, Mississippi. He enjoys traveling and listening to music. One of the first things he does upon purchasing a new c.d. is read the credits. Through this habit, Big E has acquired a wealth of knowledge concerning musicians, writers, producers as well as music artists. Eric is also a computer buff. He is usually one of the first to learn how to operate new computer equipment at the station and helps to train others. He can often be found lurking around the engineer's room asking computer questions.
Big E is famous for his "Igloo" that carries his lunch to work everyday. Co-workers often tease him about it until they smell the delicious aroma of home cooked meals prepared by his wife. Eric is married to writer/author Philis Eichelberger Fowler. They have two children, Jonathan and Aurielle. They attend church at Word of Faith Christian Center in Jackson.
