A water main repair off Interstate 220 has caused a water pressure drop in parts of south and west Jackson. The low pressure will probably last through Sunday night.
The areas affected are south of I-20, east to the Pearl River and west to Robinson Road.
Jackson State University is also experiencing low water pressure. The school has canceled all classes and on-campus events through Sunday and is encouraging all students to vacate the campus through the weekend. Portable toilets are being brought in to accommodate those who cannot leave.
Crews will be working throughout the weekend to make the repairs.
The city of Jackson is also issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for all customers in the affected area and for anyone who is experiencing low water pressure, until further notice. This notice does not affect customers served by Jackson's well water system.
This is a precautionary advisory. All customers are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate pressure is restored to the system. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute forMore>>
