PEARL, MS (WLBT) - Like most boys his age, appearance is very important to 12-year-old Lorenzo. He is concerned about how others see him.
"I like to play basketball with my brother," he said. "You like playing basketball with your brother, what else?" we asked. "I like hanging out with him."
Lorenzo does not dive in head first. He observes and then makes up his mind about who he will allow to get close to him. His current resource family said he is quiet and does not open up easily.
"Tell me about your brother and what he means to you?" we asked. "Love," he said.
"Love. Tell me how you feel about adoption. Do you want to be adopted? You heard your brother say he does, but the most important thing is for the two of you to be together," we asked. Lorenzo nodded "yes."
Lorenzo thinks about his education and is excited about returning to school and to sports.
He said he likes to play soccer and is good at it.
Lorenzo and his brother Willie want to be together in a permanent home. He also said he wants a place where he knows he is accepted and not put down.
"What kid of family?" we asked. "A love family that takes care of us," said Lorenzo.
If you would like to learn more about adoption through the Department of Human Services call the Mississippi Adoption Resource Exchange at 1-800-821-9157.
Wednesday's Child is sponsored by Wendy's and WLBT.
